Residency certification requirements for current Washington state MSW students .1) Degree - Must have completed a master's degree in social work. 2) Program - Must have completed a state-approved program for certification in theSchool Social Worker role OR 3) No Program - Must have a School Social Worker certificate from another state and have completed three years' experience under that certificate. If the other state didn't require a certificate, must have three years' experience in that role. 4) Exam - Must have successfully completed a written comprehensive examination of the knowledge included in the course work for the required master's degree. This examination shall be a proctored, written examination of a regionally accredited institution of higher education or the candidate may meet the requirement by receiving a passing score on the Praxis II school social work examination, test code 20211, administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS).
