Residency certificate requirements for post-MSW candidates in and outside of Washington State:

1)  Hold a master's degree in social work from a regionally accredited university which has a council on social work education (CWSE) accredited program;

2)  Complete 300 hours of volunteer experience with a certified school social worker in a K-12 school setting.  This must be documented on the Post graduate field experience log (click to view and print) and signed by a district administrator.

3) Complete the required course in social work and school law through a regionally accredited university approved to offer a school social work certification program.

4)  Exam - Must have successfully completed a written comprehensive examination of the knowledge included in the course work for the required master's degree. This examination shall be a proctored, written examination of a regionally accredited institution of higher education or the candidate may meet the requirement by receiving a passing score on the Praxis II school social work examination, test code 20211, administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS). 4)  Upon completion of all requirements, the individual may be recommended by the university for certification.
